Description

Camphorquinone is an inorganic acid that has been used as a polymerization agent in the synthesis of polymers. This compound is synthesized by the reaction of hydrochloric acid and camphor, which is obtained from the distillation of the gum camphor tree. Camphorquinone has been shown to be a useful polymerization agent for cationic polymerization reactions, which are important for dental materials. Camphorquinone is also used as a light-emitting material and can produce visible light emission when illuminated with ultraviolet light. Camphorquinone is hydrolyzed to camphor and quinone when exposed to water or acidic conditions.
