Description:

5-Cyclopropylisoxazole-3-carboxylic acid is a product that can be used as a precursor in the syntheses of pharmaceuticals. It can be prepared by cyclization of 5-hydroxymethylisoxazole with an alkyl halide and hydrogenation of the resulting intermediate. The yield of this product is high and it is quantitatively obtained when using aryl halides. This compound has been shown to react with ethylene oxide to form 1,1'-bis(5-cyclopropylisoxazole)-3,3',4,4'-tetrahydro-2H-[2]benzopyran.
