(S)-(+)-1-Cyclohexylethylamine is a ternary phase compound that has cytotoxic effects on cancer cells. It is an imine nitrogen with a pyrrole ring and a hexanoic acid moiety, with the amines on the other side of the molecule. The protonation in the reaction with malonic acid leads to an anti-cancer compound that can be used for future treatment of cancer. This chemical has been shown to have an antileukemic effect in mice and it was also shown to be cytotoxic to human colon cancer cells. This substance is also able to inhibit the proliferation of prostate cancer cells, although this property is not yet fully understood.
