Product Information
- (2S)-1-chloro-2-methylbutane
(S)-(+)-1-Chloro-2-methylbutane has a chiral carbon (C) and three conformations. The two isomers of the molecule have different frequencies, which can be determined by NMR spectroscopy. This compound can exist as either an individual molecule or as a supramolecular assembly with other molecules. The solvents used in this compound's synthesis are water and ethanol. It is soluble in organic solvents such as benzene, ether, chloroform, and acetone. In solution, it has a helical structure that is visible under polarized light and displays dichroism. Transfer of (S)-(+)-1-Chloro-2-methylbutane from one solvent to another takes place at room temperature with the use of light energy. Alkylation reactions involving this molecule are possible because it contains a reactive hydrogen atom (-H).
A colorless liquid with a boiling point of -19°
