Chloro[1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazol-2-ylidene]copper(I) is a transfer reagent that can be used in preparative organic chemistry. It reacts with alkyl halides to form 1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-imidazolium chloride. This reaction can be used for the preparation of chloroalkenes by filtration and pentane extraction. In addition to its use as a transfer reagent, chloro[1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazol-2-ylidene]copper(I) has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties due to its ability to inhibit the transcription of proinflammatory genes.
