Cyclopentadienylzirconium(IV) Trichloride is a five-membered metallacycle that is insoluble in solvents and reacts with pyridine nitrogen to form an alkene. Cyclopentadienylzirconium(IV) Trichloride has been used as a precursor for the preparation of other compounds, such as the synthesis of a complex ligand. This compound is noncoordinating and can be used in solvents with low coordination numbers. The nitrogen atoms are oxidized to give pyridine nitrogen, which coordinates to potassium ions. Cyclopentadienylzirconium(IV) Trichloride contains a carbonyl oxygen atom that reacts with carbonyl groups to form ligands.
