Chlorodiethylisopropylsilane is a synthetic molecule that contains a carbonyl group, a linker, and a proton. This compound is insoluble in water and has ether linkages. Chlorodiethylisopropylsilane may be used as a silylating agent in protein modification and has been shown to have antibacterial properties against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
