Description:

4-Chlorotetrahydropyran (4-CTHP) is a nucleophilic, acidic, and water soluble compound. It can be used to remove halides from wastewater, such as chloride and bromide. 4-CTHP is also used to remove chlorine atoms from organic compounds. The uptake of 4-CTHP by the epoxide ring has been shown to be stereoselective, with the trans configuration being favored over the cis configuration. The health effects of 4-CTHP are not well known but it may cause irritation on skin contact.
