- 5-Chloro-2-pyrazinecarboxamide
5-Chloropyrazine-2-carboxamide is a chemical compound that has been shown to have in vivo activity against Mycobacterium avium, an acid-fast bacterium. It also inhibits bacterial efflux pumps and neutralizes the acidic environment inside the bacteria. The chemical structure of 5-chloropyrazine-2-carboxamide is similar to diphenyl ether and pyrazinoic acid, which are known inhibitors of fatty acid synthesis. 5-Chloropyrazine-2-carboxamide inhibits hepg2 cell growth by inhibiting fatty acid synthesis and may be used as a potential drug for infectious diseases caused by Mycobacterium avium.
