Description:

Cefaclor impurity F is a dihydrothiazine that is an impurity of cefaclor. It is found in the reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) profile of cefaclor and can be identified by its anthranilic acid moiety. Cefaclor impurity F has been shown to have antibiotic activity against typhimurium and S. aureus. The presence of this compound in cefaclor may be due to an imine reaction between the p-hydroxybenzoic acid and dihydrothiazine moieties, which are structurally related compounds. This compound has not been evaluated for toxicity.
