Description:

2-Chlorobenzenesulfonyl chloride is a chlorinating agent with the chemical formula ClCH=CSCl. It is used in the synthesis of amines and surfactants, as well as in other reactions involving chlorination. This compound reacts with amines to produce sulfonamides and sulfonic acids, or with alcohols to produce alkyl halides. 2-Chlorobenzenesulfonyl chloride can also be used to introduce chlorine into organic compounds. 2-Chlorobenzenesulfonyl chloride is an experimental method for chlorinating polyatomic molecules that may be useful for synthetic purposes.
