These terminal alkynes can be dehydrogenated to produce acrylonitrile and vinyl acetate. The compound can also react with silicon to produce organometallic complexes. 3'-Chlorophenylacetylene is commonly analyzed using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR). This molecule has been used as a conjugate for drug delivery systems and as a supramolecular catalyst for organic reactions.
