Description:

4-(Chloromethyl)-1H-imidazole HCl is a histidine-containing molecule that is used as a model system for understanding the catalytic mechanism of carbonic anhydrase. It also has been shown to act as a nucleophile and bind to chloride ions, hydrate water molecules, and form cavity complexes with metal ions. 4-(Chloromethyl)-1H-imidazole HCl has been shown to catalyze the reaction between CO2 and H2O, which is the basis of its use in the industrial production of soda drinks.
