Synthetic human calcitonin is a hormone that regulates the body's calcium levels and is used to treat osteoporosis. It has been shown to inhibit bone resorption by decreasing the number of osteoclasts and increasing the number of osteoblasts. Calcitonin, human has been shown to be effective in treating bone lesions in tissue cultures and has been found to increase IGF-I levels in bone cells. This drug also inhibits bone resorption by decreasing the number of osteoclasts and increasing the number of osteoblasts.
