Description:
Catalponol is a natural product that has been shown to have cytotoxic properties in human cancer cells. Catalponol is synthesized by the condensation of two molecules, formaldehyde and acetophenone. Catalponol is an enolate and prenylation with lippia, which gives it its cytotoxic properties. The prenyl group is then transferred to deoxylapachol, forming a significant cytotoxicity. Catalponol also has asymmetric synthesis that produces greater quantities of the desired product than its mirror image.
