(R)-(+)-Corypalmine is a natural compound that can be found in the genus Stephania. It has been used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat bone cancer and hepatic steatosis. It inhibits the activity of oxidative phosphorylation, leading to cell death by disrupting the energy metabolism. The matrix effect of (R)-(+)-corypalmine on protopine has been shown to be due to its ability to inhibit the oxidation of hydroxyl groups, which are important for drug binding and antimicrobial activity. This compound also has antimicrobial properties against hl-60 cells and other bacteria.
