Description:

Cyclopropyltriphenylphosphonium bromide is a chemical compound that contains a chlorine atom. It is used as an antiviral agent in the treatment of hepatitis, which is caused by the virus. Cyclopropyltriphenylphosphonium bromide binds to the receptor site of the virus and inhibits its replication. Cyclopropyltriphenylphosphonium bromide has been shown to be effective against serine proteases and methyl transferases. This drug has also been shown to inhibit hydroxylation reactions in vitamin D3, which may be due to its ability to act as a competitive inhibitor for enzymes such as 25-hydroxyvitamin D-1α-hydroxylase (25OHase).
