Product Information
- 3-Carboxypropyltriphenylphosphonium bromide
3-Carboxypropyl)triphenylphosphonium Bromide (CBP) is a synthetic analog of the natural amino acid proline. It is a drug that has been shown to have a number of biochemical reactions. This includes the inhibition of tumor site-associated microenvironment, which may be due to its ability to inhibit propargylamine hydrolysis and resultant cellular proliferation. CBP can also reduce the levels of hydroxyl groups on the surface of mitochondria and increase mitochondrial membrane potential. CBP has also been shown to prevent neurodegenerative diseases by inhibiting protein aggregation in mitochondria and reducing oxidative stress induced by reactive oxygen species. CBP also has an amide bond that can be easily cleaved by potassium t-butoxide, which makes it more soluble in water.
