Choline bromide is a reaction product of phosphotungstic acid and hydrogen. It is used in the production of monoclonal antibodies and other biological reagents. Choline bromide is also used as a chemical reactant, for example in the production of acetylcholine. Choline bromide has been shown to have cancer-fighting effects by inhibiting the growth of tumor cells. The mechanism for this effect may be due to its ability to activate water vapor and inhibit the formation of tissue culture. Choline bromide reacts with halides to form choline chloride or with acetylcholinesterase to produce acetylcholine.
