Chlorodifluorophosphine oxide has been used as a gaseous chlorine source for the production of chlorofluorocarbons and hydrochlorofluorocarbons in the agrochemical industry. It also has been used in treatments for sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and hydrofluoric acid. Chlorodifluorophosphine oxide can also be used as a solute in water to increase its boiling point or reduce its freezing point.
