Product Information
Chloro[bis(pentafluorophenyl)]borane (CPFB) is a labile molecule that is used as an acid catalyst in organic synthesis. CPFB reacts with terminal alkynes to form Grignard reagents, which are intermediates in the formation of complex molecules. The reaction mechanism involves bond cleavage and is facilitated by UV irradiation. The rate of this reaction increases with decreasing activation energy, and the grignard reagent can be isolated from the reaction mixture by vacuum distillation or liquid-liquid extraction. Low energy electron transfer reactions have also been observed between CPFB and brain cells.
