Product Information
- Ethyl, 1-Chloro-2,2,2-Trifluoro-
- 1-Chloro-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl
Chloro-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl radicals (CF3R) are reactive electrophiles that can react with nucleophilic groups in phospholipids. The reaction of CF3R with phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) leads to the production of a variety of products including the formation of fatty acid methyl esters and phosphatidylcholine. This reaction can be inhibited by antioxidants such as vitamin E and glutathione. CF3R also reacts with cytochrome P450 enzymes, which may contribute to oxidative stress and cell damage. CF3R is quantified using liquid chromatography mass spectrometry.
