Cyclohex-1-enyl trifluoromethanesulfonate (CHFTS) is a palladium complex that acts as an inhibitor of inflammatory bowel diseases. It inhibits the formation of proinflammatory leukotrienes by blocking the conversion of arachidonic acid to its metabolites. CHFTS also has an inhibitory effect on the synthesis of prostaglandins, which are mediators of inflammation. This agent has been shown to be effective in animal models for inflammatory bowel disease and for autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis. Cyclohex-1-enyl trifluoromethanesulfonate also has antidepressant effects, which may be due to its ability to increase serotonin levels in the brain.
