Product Information

Name:
2-Chloro-2-Fluorocyclopropanecarboxylic Acid
Description:

2-Chloro-2-fluorocyclopropanecarboxylic acid (CFCPA) is a synthetic carboxylic acid which has been shown to have antimicrobial properties. It has been used in the synthesis of organic compounds that contain a vinyl group, such as methyl ester or derivatization. CFCPA has been synthesized from the reaction of 2-chloro-2-fluoroethanol and cyclopropane, followed by hydroboration and hydrolysis. The yield is high and it is easy to carry out the synthesis with this method. This product can be used for derivatisation of other compounds, as well as for the synthesis of new compounds with a chlorine atom on the ring.
