6-Cyano-2-Naphthyl Trifluoromethanesulfonate is a fluorescent compound that is used in the synthesis of naphthalenes, ethynylnaphthalenes, and other polycyclic aromatic compounds. It has been shown to yield high yields of products with good photochemical properties. 6-Cyano-2-Naphthyl Trifluoromethanesulfonate has an intense emission at 615 nm in the fluorescence spectrum. This emission can be rationalized based on its triplet state by introducing a singlet state. The triplet yield for this compound is greater than 90%. The photophysical properties of this compound have been studied using measurement techniques such as luminescence and laser flash photolysis.
