Cyclopropyl[4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]methanone is a reactive, organic compound. It is an isomeric mixture of two compounds: cyclopropyl[4-iodophenyl]methanone and cyclopropyl[4-chlorophenyl]methanone. This compound was synthesized in order to investigate the effect of substituents on the reactivity of aromatic ketones. Cyclopropyl[4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]methanone has a strong kinetic reactivity and its rate of reaction depends on the type of substituent. The substitution pattern can be correlated with experimental data from electron impact (EI) spectroscopy, which provides information about the shift and intensity of the chemical transitions.
