Product Information
2-Chloro-1-(chloromethoxy)-1,1,2-trifluoroethane (DCTFE) is a reactive chemical that forms adducts with hydrogen fluoride. DCTFE is typically used as an intermediate for the production of other chemicals, such as sevoflurane. It has also been used in the synthesis of ammonium salts and volatile compounds. DCTFE reacts with nucleophiles to form adducts, which have different properties depending on the nucleophile and its concentration. When reacted with hydrogen fluoride, it is converted to a fluorinated carboxylic acid. When reacted with water or alcohols, it forms esters or ethers respectively. The energy required to break these bonds can be measured calorimetrically by measuring the heat change in these reactions.
