Description:
5-(2-Chloroethyl)-2'-fluoroarabinofuranosyluracil is an analog of acyclovir that has been shown to inhibit the growth of uninfected cells. It also has a significant inhibitory effect on simplex virus type 1 and herpes simplex virus type 2. 5-(2-Chloroethyl)-2'-fluoroarabinofuranosyluracil inhibits protein synthesis by inhibiting viral DNA polymerase and the production of ribonucleic acid (RNA). This agent can be used for the treatment of cutaneous or mucosal lesions caused by herpes simplex virus infection.
