The compound 3-(2-Chloro-6-fluorophenyl)-5-methylisoxazole-4-carboxylic acid is a flucloxacillin sodium salt. It is the product of the reaction between acetone solution, sodium hydroxide and chlorinated phenol. The chemical formula for this compound is C14H8ClFNO2. 3-(2-Chloro-6-fluorophenyl)-5-methylisoxazole-4-carboxylic acid has been extracted from the reaction mass by adding sodium chloride to it, yielding a white solid that can be crystallized from water or acetone. This substance is also soluble in ethanol, methanol and ether.
