Product Information

Name:
3-Chloro-5-nitrobenzotrifluoride
Synonyms:
  • 1-Chloro-3-Nitro-5-(Trifluoromethyl)Benzene
  • 3-Nitro-5-(Trifluoromethyl)Aniline
  • 5-Chloro-3-nitrobenzotrifluoride
Description:

3-Chloro-5-nitrobenzotrifluoride (3CNBTF) is a metastable form of chlorine. It has been shown to have antioxidative properties, with the ability to scavenge reactive oxygen species and inhibit lipid peroxidation. 3CNBTF can also be used as an electrochemical probe in the study of coumarin derivatives. When 3CNBTF reacts with hydrogen fluoride, it is converted to trifluoride (CF3), which can then react with a nucleophile to yield fluorine's x-ray crystal structures. 3CNBTF has also been used as a transfer agent for organic synthesis.
