Product Information
Ticlopidine impurity D is a pyridine derivative that has been expressed by fermentation. It is an antithrombotic agent and has been used in the treatment of dehydration. Ticlopidine impurity D appears to be a dehydrating agent, which may be due to its ability to form alkanes, halogen compounds, metal hydrides, and organic solvents. Ticlopidine impurity D is also a mild reducing agent that decomposes into borohydride during dehydration reactions. The dehydrating effect of ticlopidine impurity D can be enhanced by adding sodium borohydride to the reaction. Agglutination has also been observed in experiments using this compound.
