Description:
5-Amino-2-[1-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)ethyl]-4H-pyrazol-3-one (5AP) is a pyrazole derivative that inhibits the activity of the enzymes that are involved in energy metabolism. It also has been shown to have toxic effects on cardiac muscle and to be cardiotoxic in experimental models. 5AP has been used in studies of autoimmune diseases and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, as well as in animal toxicity studies. 5AP is also an effective diuretic, with natriuretic properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit renal tubular reabsorption of sodium.
