Product Information
- Methyl Tetrazole-1-acetate
Methyl 1H-tetrazol-1-ylacetate is a chemical compound that can be used as an experimental antibiotic. It inhibits the synthesis of penicillin acylase, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of penicillin to 6-aminopenicillanic acid. Methyl 1H-tetrazol-1-ylacetate has been shown to inhibit β-lactamases, which are enzymes that break down β-lactam antibiotics. The compound has been found to be more stable than many other antibiotics and thus may be a sustainable antibiotic. Methyl 1H-tetrazol-1-ylacetate can also be immobilized on various surfaces to increase its stability and bioavailability.
Methyl 1H-tetrazol-1-ylacetate was first synthesized in 1992 by scientists at DuPont Central Research & Development and has been studied extensively since then, with over 100 papers published on
