Product Information
1-(2-Hydroxy-5-nitrophenyl)propan-1-one is a nitrobenzene derivative that is used as a precursor in the synthesis of chromones and coumarins. It is also used to produce benzofuran derivatives. 1-(2-Hydroxy-5-nitrophenyl)propan-1-one can be synthesized by the reaction of anhydrous sodium with nitric acid, followed by hydrolysis of the resulting sodium nitrobenzene. This compound has been shown to yield benzofuran derivatives when reacted with benzene. Nitration of 1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)propan-1-one yields nitrobenzene, which can then be reacted with amines to form aminonitrobenzenes. These compounds are used in the production of dyestuffs and herbicides.
