Description:

4-Ethoxybenzamide is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that has been shown to be effective for the treatment of inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. 4-Ethoxybenzamide binds to the COX enzyme and inhibits the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins, which are inflammatory mediators. This drug also inhibits phospholipase A2, which is responsible for the release of arachidonic acid from membrane phospholipids. The binding of 4-ethoxybenzamide to COX prevents the production of prostaglandins and thromboxane A2, resulting in decreased pain, inflammation, and fever. The drug is also used in veterinary medicine as an analgesic and antipyretic agent. 4-Ethoxybenzamide binds to receptors on cells in the central nervous system and causes sedation. It has been shown to be effective against autoimmune disorders such as multiple sclerosis.
