Description:

4-Isopropylphenyl) diphenyl phosphate (IPP) is an organophosphate compound that inhibits the activity of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which hydrolyzes acetylcholine. The inhibition of this enzyme leads to accumulation of acetylcholine at synapses and neuromuscular junctions, resulting in increased stimulation of these sites. IPP is metabolized by the liver, where it is conjugated with glucuronic acid. This metabolism occurs through two pathways: direct glucuronidation and a beta-oxidation pathway that generates phenolic metabolites. These metabolites are excreted in urine as glucuronide conjugates or free phenols.
