4-Dimethylaminobenzoyl chloride is a solid that dissolves in water. It is an efficient method for the determination of estrogens in liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization. 4-Dimethylaminobenzoyl chloride reacts with estradiol and estrone to produce the corresponding chloroformate ester, which can be detected by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. The structural analysis of 4-dimethylaminobenzoyl chloride has been shown to be a macroscopic process.
Methanol extraction has been used to extract the compound from biological studies and x-ray crystal structures have also been studied. Functional theory has also been studied as a means of understanding the reaction mechanism of 4-dimethylaminobenzoyl chloride.
