Dicyclopropyl methylamine (DCPMA) is a drug that belongs to the class of antihypertensive agents. It is an aromatic hydrocarbon with a molecular formula of C8H16N2. DCPMA has been shown to have antihypertensive activity and inhibitory effects on blood pressure in animal models. The mechanism of action for DCPMA is not completely understood, but it may be due to its ability to block soluble guanylate cyclase, which decreases the production of nitric oxide. This leads to decreased levels of cGMP, which can trigger vasodilation and lower blood pressure. In addition, DCPMA has also been shown to have some antipsychotic-like properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit adenosine receptors.
