Description:

3,5-Dimethylphenyl isocyanate (DMPIC) is a chiral molecule that can be used for the synthesis of optically pure compounds. DMPIC is synthesized from 3,5-dimethylaniline and phosgene. This chemical has been shown to have an enantioselective hydrogen bonding interaction with c. glabrata cells. It also reacts with fatty acids to form products that are useful in chromatographic science. DMPIC is an asymmetric synthesis reagent that can be immobilized on a solid support for use in asymmetric synthesis reactions. This compound has been shown to enhance the reaction of teicoplanin with its natural target, penicillin-binding proteins found in bacterial cell walls.
