2,2-Dithiobis(benzothiazole) is a chemical compound that has been shown to be toxic. It reacts with water vapor to form hydrochloric acid, boron nitride, and carbon disulphide. Chronic exposure may lead to liver damage and kidney toxicity. The transport properties of 2,2-dithiobis(benzothiazole) have been studied in the presence of fatty acids. These transport properties are pH dependent and are highest at pH 7.5. Reaction mechanism studies have shown that the hydroxyl group on the benzene ring is involved in the reaction with water vapor and sodium carbonate.
