2,3-Dichloropyrazine (2,3-DP) is a chemical compound that contains two chlorine atoms. It is used in the synthesis of other compounds and as a reagent for the production of dyes. 2,3-DP has been shown to be carcinogenic when administered orally to rats. In addition, it has been shown to be effective in treating inflammatory bowel disease. 2,3-DP also has antiinflammatory effects and can be used to treat Crohn's disease by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. The fluorescence properties of 2,3-DP have been studied extensively and have found that they are due to the presence of chlorine atoms.
