2,2-Difluoropropylamine HCl is an ionized compound that is soluble in water. It has a pK of -1.5, meaning it has a very high acidity. 2,2-Difluoropropylamine HCl is used for the synthesis of methacrylate esters and as a reagent in organic chemistry. The hydration reaction of 2,2-difluoropropylamine HCl with calcium hydroxide produces hydrofluoric acid and calcium fluoride. Hydrofluoric acid reacts with calcium ions to produce calcium fluoride, which can be crystallized from water or concentrated hydrochloric acid (HCl).
