2-Diethylamino-N-[4-(2-fluorobenzoyl)-2,5-dimethylpyrazol-3-yl]acetamide hydrochloride is a potent inhibitor of bacterial protein synthesis. It is a synthetic substrate that binds to the ribosome and prevents the formation of peptide bonds between amino acids by binding to the 23S subunit of the ribosome. 2DAAH also inhibits nitrite ion reductase, a key enzyme in nitric oxide (NO) biosynthesis, and fluorescence probe for detecting NO production.
