Description

2,6-Difluoro-N-(3-methoxy-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridin-5yl)-3-(propylsulfonamido)benzamide is an experimental drug that targets the bRaf kinase. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of malignant cells in a number of experiments. The drug binds to the bRaf protein and blocks the kinase from binding to ATP, which prevents phosphorylation of downstream proteins involved in cell division. 2,6-Difluoro-N-(3-methoxy-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridin-5yl)-3-(propylsulfonamido)benzamide also binds to other kinases such as cdc2 and cdk2, which are important for cell cycle progression.
