3-(2,4-Difluorophenyl)-1-[5-[[4,5-Di(Phenyl)-1H-Imidazol-2-Yl]Sulfanyl]Pentyl]-1-Heptylurea is a diacylglycerol inhibitor that is used as an experimental model for bowel disease and metabolic disorders. It inhibits the activity of enzymes involved in cholesterol synthesis by binding to the enzyme acyl CoA:cholesterol acyltransferase (ACAT). 3-(2,4-Difluorophenyl)-1-[5-[[4,5-Di(Phenyl)-1H-Imidazol-2-Yl]Sulfanyl]Pentyl]-1-Heptylurea also binds to the peroxisome proliferator activated receptor PPARα and can be used to treat or prevent bowel disease or metabolic disorders.
