The compound 5,6-Dihydro-9-methoxy-3,5,5-trimethyl-2-[(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)thio]-benzo[h]quinazolin-4(3H)-one is an antibacterial agent that functions as a surfactant. It has been shown to cause cavitation and ultrasonic disruption in the bacterial cell membrane and cytoplasm. The compound has also been shown to reduce the viscosity of aqueous solutions of natural oils and synthetic polymers. This property can be used to stabilize the solubility of these substances in water.
