Trans,trans-4-(3,4-difluorophenyl)-4''-butylbicyclohexyl is a hydroalcoholic, fatty acid ester with a synthetic saccharose. It has been found to be expressed by a strain of Bacillus subtilis and has been shown to have keratolytic properties. This compound also has nonirritating properties and is an emulsifying agent. Trans,trans-4-(3,4-difluorophenyl)-4''-butylbicyclohexyl is considered to be safe for use in cosmetics because it does not irritate the skin or eyes. It also can be used as an antimicrobial agent which can inhibit the growth of certain bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus.
