2,3-Difluorotoluene is an organic compound that is used as a catalyst in the production of polymers. It has been found to be a very efficient catalyst for the polymerization of isoprene at low temperatures. The reaction proceeds with high yield and no formation of by-products. 2,3-Difluorotoluene can also be used as a hydrogen peroxide catalyst, which allows it to be used as an oxidant in organic synthesis reactions. This compound is able to catalyze reactions with a frequency range from 300 to 500 MHz, and its molecular structure allows for maximum efficiency in this range. Its spectrum consists of two peaks at 3020 and 2900 cm−1.
2,3-Difluorotoluene has been shown to react with metal ions such as chlorine or copper, forming Grignard reagents that can then be used as nucleophiles in many different types of chemical reactions.
