2,6-Difluoro-3-nitropyridine is a synthetic chemical compound that is used as a reagent in the synthesis of other compounds. It is also used to synthesize esters and nucleophilic compounds. 2,6-Difluoro-3-nitropyridine has been shown to react with ethoxymethylene malonate, morpholine and acidic ethanolates to form esters. This compound reacts with sulfoxide to form sulfones. The chemistry of this compound has been investigated by reacting it with fluoride in an acidic solution. It can also be hydrolyzed by water or alkali to form 2,6-difluoropyridine.
