Product Information

Name:
1,4-difluoro-2-methyl-5-nitrobenzene
Synonyms:
  • 2,5-Difluoro-4-methylnitrobenzene
  • 2,5-Difluoro-4-nitrotoluene
  • 2,5-Difluoro-4-methyinitrobenzene
Description:

1,4-Difluoro-2-methyl-5-nitrobenzene is a fluorine-18 radiotracer that is used in positron emission tomography (PET) to measure acetylcholine receptor density in the forebrain. The tracer has been shown to bind to acetylcholine receptors and acetylcholine, which are important for nerve cell communication. 1,4-Difluoro-2-methyl-5-nitrobenzene can be prepared by reacting 1,4-difluoro-2-methylbenzene with nitric acid and sulfuric acid. This compound can also be used as a diagnostic tool for measuring the concentration of muscarinic acetylcholine receptors in the brain.
